Vancouver, B.C. – The New Car Dealers Association of BC (NCDA) applauds the BC government’s decision to continue construction of the Site C hydroelectric dam in Peace River. The development will produce 4,600 gigawatt hours of electricity each year – enough to power 400,000 homes, along with enough power for BC’s growing electric vehicle (EV) fleet.

EV’s are on the rise, with British Columbia being home to the highest sales per capita in Canada, along with the country’s largest charging network.

“The NCDA is pleased to see the government’s decision to proceed with Site C, resulting in jobs, significant positive economic spinoffs, and, when completed, a century of clean energy which can power EVs and electric fleets across our province for decades to come,” says Blair Qualey, President and CEO of the NCDA. “Generating more electricity, and working with government to alleviate the biggest barrier in EV adoption – infrastructure – will help to ensure our province continues to be a leader when it comes to sustainability.”
